“Syunyats Yerkir” Newspaper’s Coverage of the 2021 “Book at the Border” and “By the Border Student’s Side” Projects

On August 23, 2021, the newspaper covered the 2021 “Book at the Border” and “Beside the Border Student” programs of the foundation with an article titled “The Surprise of ‘Nor Nakhijevan’ Humanitarian Fund for Students of Border Settlements.”

The newspaper writes:
“Today, on August 23, the ‘Nor Nakhijevan’ Humanitarian Fund organized a small concert at the Kapan Culture Center for around seventy elementary school students from the schools of the border settlements of the Kapan consolidated community.
The concert program included national and modern dances, and songs dedicated to Kapan and Armenia. But the little ones could not hide their impatience; 7-year-old Susanna, sitting next to me, turns to me: ‘Will the gifts be given late? They said we are going to receive backpacks.’
The concert ended with a speech by Mher Hovhannisyan, the Director of the ‘Nor Nakhijevan’ Humanitarian Fund.
‘I welcome you all; I am thankful that you are present at this small event. The “Nor Nakhijevan” Humanitarian Fund continues to stand beside the border resident. For us, it is both a great honor and a great responsibility to be by your side ahead of the new academic year. I would like to convey the congratulations and best wishes of the Chairman of our Board of Trustees, Harutyun Surmalyan; Harutyun Surmalyan is the person who is the main supporter of all this. Our compatriots from Canada and Dubai have also contributed to our programs. I want to express my gratitude to Gevorg Parsyan, the Mayor of Kapan, who assisted us in all organizational matters,’ said Mher Hovhannisyan.
Then he invited the school directors and students onto the stage.
The students approached the organizers and received the backpacks intended for them. The directors did not leave empty-handed either; the foundation had prepared bundles of fiction literature for the schools.
Lilit Arakelyan, the Director of the Syunik Secondary School, noted in her speech of gratitude that the homeland begins at the border, and it is commendable that in this situation, organizations stand by the resident and the child of the border settlement.
Near the exit, I met 7-year-old Susanna, who had been sitting next to me: this time, there was a satisfied smile on her face…
